The diet is divided into two phases. In the first phase, quick weight loss is followed after a specified timetable, so you get to a daily intake of 500 calories.

Be the master of your own body!

You can design your own weight loss plans, provided you do not exceed the recommended number of calories. Ideally, this phase will last for about three months, depending on the weight you want to lose. Do not be surprised when you see three months, this is the quickest way to lose weight in a safe manner.

The second phase involves the maintenance of the weight obtained after the first phase. That does not mean you have to endure torturous food restrictions all your life to remain with the desired weight. On the contrary! Once you become an adept of the GI diet, the blood sugar level is so tightly controlled that you will never want to eat sweets, snacks or other food considered to be a threat to the silhouette. The GI diet lets you eat a wide variety of foods. After you finish it, your goal is to increase the number of calories consumed to help maintain the new weight.

Weight maintenance is simpler than a strict diet

If you followed a slimming diet for several weeks, the amount of energy provided by food was much smaller than you expected. But your body accustomed to “work” efficiently with fewer calories. You should know that small bodies need fewer calories. For example, if you lost 10% of your weight, then your body needs 10% fewer calories to function in optimal parameters. The great mistake frequently made by those who kept a diet is that they consume more calories than their body needs. To maintain the weight after dieting, all you have to do is to slightly increase the amount of food consumed during the diet.

In the battle for quick weight loss we are combating our body’s set point. Set point is a function of many different variables and can be changed over time. A simple definition is that set point is the weight that our body will strive to maintain. It is common for people to start new exercise and diet programs and make great progress only to revert back to their former glory when they stop the program. In other words their body is equalizing back to its set point.

This can of course be frustrating because many of us are not happy with our set point. So, what I urge you to do is define a new set point. We know that set point is the weight that your body strives to maintain, but why does your body strive to maintain that weight?

The answer is simple, your body strives to maintain that weight because of your lifestyle. Your lifestyle in this sense is nothing for than a function of your diet and how much you move. If you change these factors your body will adapt and your set point will change. If you make long term changes in either of these areas it is amazing to see how influential they can be. So, defining weight is not so much about hitting the gym it is more about defining the lifestyle that will give you the body you want.

One you make the changes necessary to set your new set point you will be amazed at how quickly your body will shed excess weight. I have seen people drop significant weight simply based on starting a new job that keeps them on their feet or forces them to walk to work.

The key to maintaining this new set point is to maintain the changes that you have made in your life. This can mean making drastic changes that can be stressful in the short term but highly beneficial in the long term. It is no mistake of nature that active people are lean and sedentary people are obese. Pick your lifestyle to reach your ideal weight.

Another thing that you must keep in consideration is that from an evolutionary stand point we are programed to add a little bit of extra weight when the going is good. This served us well for many millennium but we have now run into a problem because the going is pretty much always good. Our bodies have yet to catch up to our evolution.

So really it is simple. For quick weight loss just change your lifestyle to change your set point.
